Discover the delights of Kuusamo and Ruka, where Lapland begins, during the summer months when the days are long, the wilderness green and nature is at its very best.
Stay at the beautiful Iisakki Village on the shores of Lake Rukajärvi, just a 10-minute drive from Ruka. Wilderness Hotel Papin Talo will be your home away from home and with its relaxed Finnish ambiance and tasty home-cooked fare you may not want to leave. But outside there is so much to discover, whether you choose to hike, bike or spend time on the water and there will be plenty of time to explore independently.
Three guided trips are included with rafting on the Kitkajoki river; a midnight sun canoe adventure on the lake; and a guided hike in nature. You will also be treated to an all important relaxation session in the lakeside Finnish sauna. If time allows, you may also include additional guided trips and a highlight for all wildlife enthusiasts would surely be an opportunity to witness the European brown bear in its natural environment during an evening trip to a viewing hide.
Whether you are travelling as a couple, family or going solo, this Finnish summer discovery is sure to delight and an excellent addition to this wilderness experience would be some urban exploration in the capital city of Helsinki.
